Cartegic is a browser-based way of understanding the strategic missions, experience and progress of multidimensional projects. It uses maps as a lens to express projects that would otherwise appear over-complicated.

Four categories, one map

Every uploaded project bundle is read through four lenses. Together they turn a tangle of documents into a single, navigable map.

Thematic

The central themes of the project or workstream, plus their projections — the expected futures related to each theme.

Topographic

The project's context and compatibility with its environment: related artefacts and dependencies, plus projections of future relationships or environmental change.

Weather

Experience factors — user experience where applicable, and the experience of people working on and around the project — assembled from across the whole project.

Reference

Data sources and reference material, including toponyms: the naming of all relevant project materials.

A cartography lens turns a tangle of workstreams into terrain you can actually navigate.

How it works

  1. Write or export your project knowledge as a collection of Open Knowledge Format markdown files.
  2. Upload the folder or a .zip of the bundle — everything stays local in your browser.
  3. Cartegic parses the bundle into a graph of documents, categorized and cross-linked.
  4. Explore the map through whichever view suits the question you're asking, and switch freely between views.
